OYCAT - Onshore Yard Capacity Assessment Tool
This tool is under development to help answer the question: "Do we have enough capacity in the supply chain to receive the offshore assets being decommissioned?"

It is still in Beta version and we welcome all comments and suggestions to improve. Over time we will be refining the input data and algorithms to continuously improve the Tool.
The Tool works by allocating platforms and subsea installations to the nearest onshore disposal yard, and if that yard is already 'full' then the algorithm takes the platform to the next nearest yard.
The scenario shown in this Beta version is based on the first 10 years including those assets known to D3 for removal, and then remaining platforms being removed over the subsequent 20 years. All removals are at a random distribution and thus this scenario is just for demonstration purposes.
We invite onshore disposal yards to confirm their details held about their yard so we can consistently refine.
The Tool has been developed by D3 Consulting with our own funds with the intention to work with the industry to get more clarity on disposal capacity. Please get in touch to discuss.
Future developments include:
- Developing robust decommissioning scenarios
- Firming up on yard data and capacities
- Matching yard capabilities (i.e. quay facility to receive asset, permitted wastes, etc)
- Finer detail on platform and subsea quantities coming to shore versus leave in-situ
