This standard describes an attribute that is applicable to fields that have an editing capability. Most modern virtual keyboards allow customization of the action key and this standard brings web compatibility.
Android platforms have provided the ability for native apps to customize the action key on virtual keyboards via modifiying the action value. Web authors have requested the same richness on the web platform. Mozilla has provided attr-mozactionhint and this specifcation is about standarizing that.
2. inputmode-action.
The type of the virtual keyboard that is displayed is already customizable via the inputmode. The inputmode-action content attribute is an enumerated attribute with the following keywords:
The user-agent is free to choose the missing value default based on contextual information. For example if the virtual keyboard appears on an element contained inside a form it MAY wish to use send as the default; otherwise done as the default. textarea or contenteditable should use enter as the default.
3. Internationalization
User agents are free to provide internationalized text or symbols representing the action on the virtual keyboard for the visual representation of individual key words.

Conformance requirements are expressed with a combination of descriptive assertions and RFC 2119 terminology.
